Dr. Michelle Vosburgh

Dr. Vosburgh holds a B.A. in History and Geography and a B.Ed from Brock and has completed both an M.A. and a Ph.D in History at McMaster. Her areas of research and publishing include pre-Confederation Ontario land settlement and agricultural development, along with public history.  In addition to teaching History and Canadian Studies part-time at Brock University, she is the Archivist and Registrar at the L.R. Wilson Archives and Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum.  She is the great, great, granddaughter of Captain William A. Vosburgh, blacksmith and machinist of Beamsville who is accredited with creating the modern hockey net.

Her topic, in her own words, “..I will probably be speaking on some of the additional information I have gleaned over the years about my great, great, grandfather and his family, as an example of how Archives can provide a lot more details about people’s lives beyond birth, marriages and death..”
